“…nope can’t go out tomorrow night either. I have to study.”
Ok we’ve all heard this cliché excuse, maybe in a movie or two, being given as a ‘nice rejection’ when what we really want to say is ‘No way no how. I can’t believe you even asked me out! As if!’ In reality it’s just a poor excuse to make ourselves feel better right?
So now you’re thinking, ‘where in the world is she going with this?’ Well the point is right there. It was a poor excuse. So many times we give similar excuses to God when He asks us to do something. No, we don’t tell him we have to wash our hair or study. But how many times have you said, “I’ll give when I make more”, “I’ll make time to pray when this big project is done,” “The choir has enough people,” “I don’t know how to help,” Etc… These are all excuses that prevent us from creating a close relationship with Jesus. We might as well be saying, “no way no how.”
It’s time to say, “Yes Lord. Your will, not mine.” He has great plans for each of us but for us to know what they are we have to be in continuous communication with him. So open up the lines…he’s waiting on the other end. To follow Christ, it’s vital that you put him before anything else in the world. You won’t regret!
Don’t let lame excuses prevent you from placing your full faith in Jesus.
